Combilift has launched its first new straddle carrier in four years after the machine was introduced in 2010. The Combi-SC Top-Lift, incorporating a telescopic automatic spreader operated from the cab, can handle 20ft, 30ft, 40ft and 45ft containers, achieving throughput of up to 20 containers an hour.
Described as an alternative to reachstackers, the company says that the new machine offers complete independence when moving loads around sites or loading on/off road and rail trucks. The machine’s low profile gives it the advantage of being able to move in/out and within warehouses, while also being able to stack boxes one-over-one.
Originally designed to handle heavy and difficult loads and then adapted with chains to handle containers, the new Combi-SC Top-Lift spreader has front and rear side-shift functions for precise positioning of the twistlocks. The machine’s telescopic lifting frame can be adjusted to equalise the lift of unbalanced loads and lifted independently for container tipping. Chain hooks can be added to handle heavy, oversized and abnormal loads.
