The deep-water Norfolk International Terminals (NIT) facility at the Port of Virginia, United States, has successfully gone live with the Navis N4 terminal operating system.
The terminal, capable of handling the largest vessels in the world, took the decision to upgrade the TOS to serve those vessels and their accompanying cargo volumes efficiently. The upgrade goes hand-in-hand with a programme of long-term capital investments at the terminal.
“As volumes increase, we must have technology solutions in place that can help us plan, manage and forecast operational needs,” said John Reinhart, CEO and executive director of the Virginia Port Authority. “The new TOS replaces a 25 year-old legacy system and will provide real-time visibility across all areas of the operation.”
