It has been reported that numerous analysts anticipate that CMA CGM, recently snubbed by the 2M partners of Maersk and MSC, could join forces with United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) and China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL).
The French line had been part of the proposed P3 alliance that was abandoned in June after Chinese competition authorities refused to sanction the agreement. The announcement only a few weeks later from Maersk and MSC that they would go it alone has left the world’s third-largest shipping line the uneasy task of working out how to compete with the global alliances.
The most likely outcome, according to a number of analysts, is collaboration with UASC and CSCL.
