Marking the start of construction, the cornerstone has been laid by Grup TCB of the yard extension at the Puerto Quetzal Container Terminal (TCQ) on the Pacific coast of Guatemala.
The first phase of the improvements will be complete by the end of 2015.
TCQ will operate the new port terminal under a 25-year lease agreement, with the facility equipped to handle the larger post-Panamax class of container vessels that will begin passing through the expanded Panama Canal.
