Kalmar has won a contract to supply the Port of Melbourne’s new Victoria International Container Terminal (VICTL), with over €40m (US$50m) worth of equipment and related automation technology.
The order includes 12 automated stacking cranes (ASCs) and 11 automated shuttle carriers, to be delivered by 2016.
To be operated by a consortium comprised of Filipino terminal operator International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) and Australian Anglo Ports, construction of the terminal superstructure of the new fully automated VICTL terminal will begin in late 2014. It will have an estimated capacity of 350,000 teu in its first phase and 1.4m teu when fully developed.
