A shipping service connecting the east coasts of the Americas has been launched, with seven post-Panamax vessels to call the north-south trade route.
The ‘New Tango’ service includes Hamburg Süd/Aliança, Hapag-Lloyd/ CSAV and two new carriers in the area, NYK and Yang Ming.
Among the new vessels is the Monte Rosa, a post-Panamax ship with a capacity of 5,550 teu, which was the first ship to call at Charleston on the service. Previously, ships on the East Coast-South America route were only Panamax-sized, able to carry an average of 4,000 teu.
