United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) has announced that it will open a wholly-owned representation in the Swiss market as of January 1.
The new agency will be called UASAC Switzerland, it will be a subsidiary of UASAC Deutschland and will take over all agency activities from Fiege Logistics, which represented UASC for 24 years.
In a statement, UASC said that the move was part of its growth plan and highlights the importance of the Swiss market.
Additionally, the company said, in light of its entrance into the Ocean Three alliance with CMA CGM and China Shipping as well as its co-operation agreement with Hamburg Süd, the move will open several new markets for European and, particularly, Swiss customers.
Detlev Kerber, vice president of the UASC Europe, said: “We believe that establishing a wholly-owned UASC prescence in the Swiss market will enable us to directly understand our customer requirements and build enduring relationships that deliver tangible business results.”
Details of the new personnel have not yet been announced.
