Global terminal operator PSA International has announced that the throughput at its terminals was 5.8% higher in 2014 than 2013.
The company’s terminals handled 65m teu, 34m teu of which was handled at the company’s flagship PSA Singapore terminals, which saw a 4% increase over 2013.
PSA’s CEO Tan Chong Meng said in a statement: “Last year was challenging for the shipping and port industry. Global trade growth was modest and that, coupled with the introduction of many mega vessels, resulted in overcapacity and low freight rates for liner carriers.”
