Container throughput at the US West Coast port of Long Beach increased by 1.3% in 2014, over 2013.
In a statement, the Port said that this indicated continued economic growth for the USA and was the port’s third busiest year on record, behind the peak years of 2006 and 2007.
The year’s total throughput was 6.8m teu. Over 3.5m teu of this was imports (up 1.8%), exports made up 1.6m teu (down 5.9%) and empties rose to 1.7m teu (up 8.2%).
