Almost 1,000 port workers in the Port of Kingston, one of the leading transhipment centres in the Caribbean and ranked 91st in CM’s World Top Container Ports, are uncertain of their future as they have no idea of what is happening with the proposed privatisation of Kingston Container Terminal (KCT).
The biggest terminal in the port, KCT is owned by the Port Authority of Jamaica (PAJ) and is currently managed by KCT Services Limited.
Last October (2014), the Government announced that it had started privatisation negotiations with Terminal Link Consortium which comprises Terminal Link, CMA CGM, and China Merchant Holdings International.
