Dutch manufacturer Terberg has celebrated producing its 25,000th vehicle at its factory in the small village of Benschop, central Netherlands with the unveiling of the ro-ro tractor ordered by European ferry company DFDS.
DFDS has been a customer since around 1974, only five years after the manufacturer built its first machine, and one year after it produced its first terminal tractor for the Port of Rotterdam.
Export manager Frank Oerlemans told CM that the company had started producing terminal tractors as the oil crisis meant that demand for trucks was down. He used the Dutch phrase “farmers’ sense” to characterise that smart decision by the then owner.
