MCC Transport has started a service between China and Myanmar, to tap into a country which it views as having great potential for growth in international trade.
The new Intra Asia 5 (IA5) service will reduce transit time from ports in China to Yangon, to 13 days from 18 in the case of Shanghai to Yangon, without the need for transhipment of cargo in southeast Asia, according to the company. It claims the route is the first direct trade link between China and Myanmar.
The new service will run on a 56-day rotation covering Shanghai, Singapore, Port Klang (Malaysia), Sihanoukville (Cambodia), Busan (South Korea), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and other ports.
