Paraguay’s Puerto Caacupe-mi launches new terminal operating system

Puerto Caacupe-mi in Paraguay has successfully implemented a new terminal operating system (TOS), installed by operational technology provider Navis, part of the Cargotec Corporation.

With the N4 TOS up and running, the next phase will see Caacupe-mi integrate Kalmar Smartport, a range of automation solutions, to its new system at its Asuncion and Pilar facilities.

Once complete, the services will be able to automate the management of terminal operations at the gate, the quayside and the yard.

The Asuncion and Pilar facilities at Caacupe-mi, one of five river ports in Paraguay, span over 100 ha and are currently responsible for 110,000 teu per year.

Growth of 50% is anticipated over the next five years and 51 ha have been reserved for development.

Fernando Leri Frizza, president of Puerto Caacupe-mi, praised 16 people who had worked over the last four months to implement the TOS project and noted operational improvements in the first few weeks since the go-live.
