Navis releases new business intelligence portal

Navis releases new business intelligence portal

Navis has unveiled a new terminal business intelligence (BI) portal, which provides data analytics solutions and features integration with its N4 terminal operating system (TOS).

The BI Portal will offer hourly, daily and historical data analysis in near real-time, aiming to deliver a “360-degree view” of terminal performance.

Features include configurable dashboards, reports and key performance indicators (KPIs); a report designer and visualiser for ad-hoc reporting and data discovery; mobile compatibility and data reliability due to N4 TOS integration.

Automated data sourcing, staging and Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) for TOS data analyses with multi-facility support and security are also provided.

At the launch at Navis World 2015, Manoj Bhardwaj, director at BI Solutions, Navis said: “As the competition among terminals increases, so too will the pressure to meet evolving customer expectations, while improving efficiency and the ability to operate profitably.”

“To meet these challenges and stay competitive, terminal operators will need visibility into every aspect of operations enabling them to utilise their resources in the most efficient manner. This will also mean having the ability to get answers to both routine and unique operational questions with unprecedented speed,” he added.

The BI Portal will be delivered to in two phases; the first as a stand-alone application with built-in integration for data extraction from the Navis N4 TOS.

The second release, expected in December will provide BI access from within N4, enabling TOS users access to BI Portal dashboards via a single sign-on.

According to Navis, which is part of Cargotec, the solution can help users to improve gate productivity, increase visibility into yard operations and speed up vessel work time, thus identifying and combating bottlenecks.

Bhardwaj further called on container terminals to embrace data analytics, which are “transforming industries around us”.
