The Nord Port Shuttle (NPS) barge service that runs between the Port of Dunkerque’s Flanders container terminal and the inland port terminals of Lille (LCT) and Dourges (LDCT), has been upgraded to offer a rapid transhipment of boxes delivered on the Ocean 3 Alliance mother-ships.
Containers will be reloaded directly onto the NPS barge as soon as the OCEAN 3 vessels complete their commercial operations at the Flanders Terminal, allowing the barge to depart for Dourges and Lille only hours after the containers arrive from Asia.
As a result of close cooperation with the customs authorities’ economic action unit, synchronisation between the mother-ship and barge has been made possible through the Waterway and Maritime Procedure (PFM), a simplified customs procedure that allows exemption from NST-type transit documents.
