Terminal operator Grup TCB has agreed a deal to buy Terminal Polivalente de Castellón (TPC) from its current owners, including majority shareholder Globalvia.
The transaction is pending approval which is expected to come from the relevant authorities in the next few weeks.
The terminal is situated mid-way up Spain’s eastern coast at the Port of Castellon, 60 km from Valencia. TPC handles around 80% of the port’s container traffic.
TPC was founded in 2005 and handled 162,000 movements in 2014, 5% more than the previous year. It has 970 m of berthing line, a maximum draught of 14 m and direct rail access.
Russia, Angola and Turkey are the top three trading partners for the port, in terms of tonnes moved.
Grup TCB already operates terminals at the ports of Valencia and Barcelona.
