South African logistics company, Transnet, has appointed Siyabonga Gama as its new chief executive following the secondment of former head, Brian Molefe, to sister firm, Eskom.
Gama, a prominent member of South Africa’s ruling party, the African National Congress (ANC), will make the step-up from chief executive of Transnet’s freight rail division following 21 years in the company.
He has previously headed the state-owned enterprise’s National Ports Authority segment, which is responsible for managing and governing seven of South Africa’s major seaports.
