The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has announced an agreement with Dredging International Asia Pacific-Daelim Joint Venture worth an estimated SG$2.42bn (US$1.81bn) to kick start works on the Tuas Terminal Phase 1 project.
The deal will include the process of dredging waters, constructing wharves as well as the reclamation of 294 ha of land, to meet the growing demands of larger container shipping companies.
Construction of the Tuas project began in February following the project’s initial programme launch in 2011. The project is expected to take five years to complete.
