Political debate over a controversial extension at the Port of Auckland’s Bledisloe multi-purpose terminal in New Zealand has ended in compromise.
On April 1, Auckland councillors had voted unanimously to ask the city-owned port company to halt all work on the extension until further studies had been carried out.
Yesterday though, Auckland’s mayor Lee Brown used his casting vote in the city council to decide on a compromise.
