The Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) opened a tender process on 5 May to identify two separate private operators for four berths of the New Mooring Container Terminal.
The World Bank and local traders have been calling for the tender to be held for over a year, as the terminal has remained largely non-operational.
Containers at the terminal would be handled by floating cranes, as opposed to quay cranes, and the deadline for submission of the tenders is June 1 while the contracts are valid for two years.
