The Port of Antwerp has announced it will participate in the existing rail shuttle between the Belgian port and Duisburg in Germany.
This direct rail condition was set up in 2006 due to difficult competitive conditions on the roads and rivers between the two ports.
It was run jointly by dpa, a subsidiary of the Port of Duisburg (Duisport), and a rail operator until the end of 2014 when the rail operator ended the service.
