Qingdao’s new automated terminal, Qingdao Qianwan Intelligent Container Terminal (QQCTI), has ordered seven ship-to-shore (STS) cranes and an unknown number of automatic stacking cranes (ASCs) and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) from ZPMC.
The deal, worth US$160m excluding tax, was made after QQCTI had shortlisted three suppliers offering automated horizontal transport solutions.
French manufacturer Gaussin Manugistique, which produces automotive intelligent vehicles (AIV), a type of AGV, was one of the companies to lose out, as did another European AGV supplier.
