The Northwest Seaport Alliance between Seattle and Tacoma is set to come into existence on 4 August as it has been approved by the Federal Maritime Commission.
The Commission voted unanimously based on its judgement that the agreement will not reduce competition in such a way that would increase transportation costs or reduce services.
The FMC authorised a Port Development Authority (PDA) to come into existence from August 1 to promote the Alliance’s marine cargo operations.
