Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) has announced that it will increase the capacity of its Oman International Container Terminal (OICT) to 5.3m teu from the current 2.3m teu.
Around US$300m will be invested in the container terminal by 2019, including US$184m which has already been invested, as it tries to capitalise on the closure of the neighboring Port Sultan Qaboos.
The company plans to develop a new terminal, Terminal D, construction of which could start as early as 2018-19.
