The Port of Houston Authority moves forward with its infrastructure expansion and terminal operations’ update by commissioning a super post-Panamax ship-to-shore (STS) crane and updating its Terminal Operating System (TOS).
The new 30-story high electric crane is for the port’s Barbours Cut Container Terminal (BCT) and is the the biggest ever manufactured by Konecranes and the tallest in North America. Of four STS cranes ordered in May 2013, it is the first to be commissioned.
On announcing the order in May 2013, Konecranes said that the cranes would be shipped to BCT in late 2014 and supplied during the first quarter of 2015.
