Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” Line)’s CEO and his Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) counterpart have expressed concern over the still challenging situation that lies ahead for the container business in 2016.
“K” Line’s CEO and President Eizo Murakami and MOL’s CEO Junichiro Ikeda admitted in their respective New Year’s messages that they doubt a full-scale market recovery will happen soon.
Uncertainty about the new year was also expressed by Japanese shipping giant Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK)’s president Tadaaki Naito, who said in his New Year’s message that the outlook for 2016 is not very clear particularly as regards the container and dry bulk markets.
