The former director of the Nigerian Ports Authority Mallam Bello Gwandu is among the top politicians and business leaders who invested in London properties via offshore companies, the ‘Panama Papers’ leak has revealed.
The Panama Papers, a leak of about 11.5m files from the database of Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca, revealed that a British Virgin Islands (BVI) company owned by Gwandu holds a flat in Maida Vale, an affluent residential district in west London, The Guardian reported.
According to the newspaper, the company also bought a flat in St George Wharf, a riverside development in London, for £450,000 (US$634,053) over 10 years ago.
