The construction of APM Terminals (APMT)’s new container facilities in the Caribbean port of Moín, Costa Rica, is 27% completed with the first berth scheduled to become operational in September 2017, the Costa Rican government has announced.
The news followed a visit by the country’s President Luis Guillermo Solís and some of his ministers to the artificial island being built to house APMT Container Terminal of Moin (TCM), which is set to be able to handle a total 2.5m teu per year by 2030.
The US$1bn project is divided into three phases, with the first one worth a total of US$297m and including the construction of two berths, the second of which is scheduled to become operational in January 2018.
