Dubai-based port operator DP World has reported a 2.4% increase in its like-for-like container handling volumes across its terminals for the first quarter of 2016.
The company handled 15m teu in the first three months of 2016, up 3.7% on a reported basis, while its consolidated terminals handled a total of 7.2m teu, a like-for-like drop of 0.4% and an overall increase of 2.3%.
The terminal operator said in a statement that the first quarter growth was mainly due to a stronger performance in its European and Indian subcontinent terminals, while conditions in Latin America remain challenging.
