Terminal operators TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico and Intership have combined their adjacent facilities at the Port of San Juan’s Puerto Nuevo terminals into a new joint venture (JV) expected to boost growth.
The Puerto Rico Terminals (PRT) JV, which combines US$38m worth of the companies’ existing assets at the Puerto Nuevo terminals, is expected to handle over 250,000 containers and autos per year in and out of Puerto Rico.
According to TOTE, the joint venture will result in improved vessel turn times, enhanced safety and security features and additional technology-based service upgrades.
