Seattle and Tacoma temporarily extend gate opening
The Northwest Seaport Alliance of Seattle and Tacoma has launched a peak-season programme of late-opening and flexible gates.
The Northwest Seaport Alliance announced it would reimburse terminal operators up to US$2m if they extend their gate opening hours.
The programme, which will launch on August 22 and will run for twelve weeks, involves flexible gates from 7am to 8am and keeping the gates open during the dockers’ lunch hour. One off-shift gate each week will be provided in the evenings (after 5pm) or weekend.
