The International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) has announced the release of a new study into the health, safety and welfare of workers in the global container port industry.
The independent study, titled ‘Experiences of arrangements for health, safety and welfare in the global container terminal industry’, was commissioned by the ITF together with the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and carried out by Cardiff University.
To carry out the study, researchers were granted workplace access by six anonymised major port/global network terminal operators.
