The north of England’s four main ports have formed a new organisation called the Northern Ports Association, hoping to create jobs, boost exports and prosperity across the region.
The partnership, which features Liverpool (run by Peel Ports), Hull (Associated British Ports), Tees Valley (PD Ports) and Tyne (Port of Tyne), coincides with the government’s Northern Powerhouse agenda, which aims to attract investment to the north.
The association’s creation was a recommendation in a report by the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), a left wing think tank.
