The Port of Brisbane has started an A$110m (US$83m) project to upgrade access roads connecting the port and the local road network to avoid future bottlenecks.
The Port Drive Upgrade Project, which is expected to deliver safer and more efficient port roads, is according to the port being commenced “well ahead” of capacity demand, aiming at ensuring the port’s ability to handle future trade growth.
The upgrade, which is expected to be completed in mid-2018, includes the duplication of Port Drive, the construction of a four-lane overpass and the duplication of Lucinda Drive Bridge on the artificial Fisherman Islands where the port is located.
