The Port of Damietta Authority has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China Harbour Engineering Company to develop a second container terminal at the Egyptian port.
Under the agreement, China Harbour will build a new terminal featuring 2.2 km of berths with a 17 m depth and a 700 sq m stacking space.
The project is expected to last a total of 24 months, with the port authority set to launch an international tender in the meantime to select a terminal operator to run the facility upon its completion.
