French port operator Bolloré Ports has officially started construction works to extend its container terminal at the Port of Freetown, Sierra Leone.
The US$120m project, which will be entirely financed by the operator, includes construction of a 270 m quay extension with a depth of 13 m for a total of 3.5 ha and the establishment of a power plant dedicated to the facility.
The new terminal’s handling capacity will increase from the current 90,000 teu to 750,000 teu at its completion, which is expected in September 2018.
