Crane simulator developer GlobalSim, Inc. has unveiled its new Virtual Reality (VR) platform, offering trainees the ability to see their hands in a virtual environment.
The VR platform forms part of GlobalSim’s lineup of simulators which range from desktop units to multi-display Full Mission platforms and massive projector-based dome systems.
GlobalSim president Jonathan McCurdy stated: “VR is an exciting technology but there have been some challenges in the past. One limitation has been the inability to see your own hands in the virtual environment. It’s difficult to train someone on a piece of equipment if they can’t see their own hands and feel the controls as they would in a real-life scenario.
