Republican maritime industry veteran Michael A. Khouri has been appointed as acting chairman of the US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) by the recently-elected US President Donald Trump.
Khouri, which has a 45-year experience in the maritime sector and was appointed an FMC commissioner by the USA’s former President Barack Obama in 2009, replaced the Democrat Mario Cordero, which held the position since April 1, 2013.
During his career in the industry, Khouri held positions in marine vessel operations, as well legal and executive roles.
