Ahead of nine days of strike action due at Spanish ports this March, Maersk Line is planning to re-route certain services to avoid its local transhipment hub in Algeciras.
Westbound vessels on the carrier’s Asia-Europe and Middle East services normally calling Algeciras will be diverted to other facilities in the Mediterranean where capacity has been secured.
According to a notice to customers from the shipping line, “transhipment connections will be made there for cargo destined for Africa, Mediterranean, North Europe and Latin America, based on our existing network and additional capacity deployed during the contingency”.
