Maersk has started collaborating with US technology company International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) on a new project to use blockchain technology to enhance cross-border supply chain.
The blockchain solution, which is based on the open source Linux Foundation’s open source Hyperledger Fabric and built by the two companies, is expected to help manage and track the paper trail of shipping containers by digitising the supply chain process from end-to-end.
The solution, which will be made available to the shipping and logistics industry, aims to enhance transparency and highly secure sharing of information among trading partners.
