The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) has expressed concern over proposed cuts for port-related programmes outlined in President Trump’s Fiscal 2018 budget.
According to the AAPA, federal support for port dredging and improvements, environmental enhancements and security could fall under the new administration’s funding recommendations, with potentially significant declines for most federally funded, port-related programmes.
The budget included proposed cuts on funding for the US Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grants programme as well as the Department of Homeland Security’s Port Security Grants Programme (PSGP).
