The British Ports Association (BPA) has called for trade facilitation to be central in Brexit agreement.
Following the UK government’s Article 50 notification, which officially started the two-year negotiation period culminating with the country leaving the European Union (EU), BPA’s CEO Richard Ballantyne warned that facilitation of trade should be given the highest priority.
He said: “Ports provide vital economic gateways and from the point of view of trade and freight flows, probably the lead concern from the ports sector is facilitation, with potential major challenges dealing with HGVs on Ro-Ro and ferry routes.
