The first ever UK-China export train has departed from DP World London Gateway as part of China’s One Belt, One Road programme.
The train, which transported containers with goods including soft drinks, vitamins, pharmaceuticals and baby products, will arrive in Yiwu in the Zhe Jiang province, eastern China, after a 7,500 mile, three-week-long journey.
The DB Cargo locomotive will also call Duisburg in Germany, with InterRail then transporting the cargo through Poland, Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan on its journey to China.
