Kalmar has delivered five rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes to Evergreen International Storage & Transport in Taiwan.
The new machines will be operated at the company’s Taoyuan Inland Container Terminal and Hsichih Inland Container Terminal.
The new RTGs, which join six Kalmar empty container handlers already operated by the Taiwanese inland terminal operator, are expected to help the company improve its terminals’ operational efficiency.
The units, which were delivered from Kalmar’s joint venture Rainbow-Cargotec Industries in Taicang, China, are equipped with a low-emission diesel engine and an all-electric trolley, wheel turning and spreader.
The machines do not use hydraulics, meaning that servicing is straightforward and there are fewer components to inspect and maintain.
According to a company statement, Kalmar RTGs’ maintenance interval of 1,000 hours is the longest in the industry.
Evergreen International Storage & Transport, which currently provides inland container terminal services across Taiwan, is expanding to the international logistics market.
The services offered by the company include lifting operations and control of inbound and outbound containers, repairing and cleaning service of containers, and warehousing in the distribution centre.
