Ports America orders six Kalmar RTGs

Kalmar has signed a contract with Ports America Chesapeake  for the delivery of six of its RTGs that will be delivered to Ports America’s Seagirt terminal in the Port of Baltimore in January 2018.

“The addition of six new RTGs will help ensure we can maintain high levels of service for our customers, the trucking community and our port partners in the coming years,” Ports America Chesapeake General Manager Bayard Hogans said.

The delivery includes Kalmar SmartPort process solutions such as: SmartProfile, SmartRail, SmartStack and SmartFleet. SmartProfile aims to minimise collisions while Smartrail is intended to automatically control the gantry on the travelling path. It is hoped that SmartFleet will allow the terminal to troubleshoot and analyse the status and maintenance needs of the equipment.
