Kuenz has ordered 36 all-electric spreaders from Bromma for its delivery of automated stacking cranes (ASC) to APM Terminals’ (APMT) Tangier-Med 2 container terminal.
The terminal is a greenfield project with full operation of the terminal scheduled to begin in the first half of 2019.
When completed to full capacity the Tangier-Med 2 facility will have an annual capacity of 5m teu.
According to Bromma Marketing Director Lars Meurling, “the YSX40/45E is by far the most used spreader in automated terminals in the world today.”
He praised the “robust design” and specific features required in an automated environment.
More than 90% of the spreaders for rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes, rail-mounted gantry (RMG) cranes and ASC operation from Bromma today are all-electric GreenlineTM spreaders.
According to the Swedish manufacturer, the all-electric spreaders are in demand “due to fewer service points, lighter weight, and the absence of any hydraulics”.
This means the equipment has simplified maintenance requirements, tough durability, lower emissions and less power requirements, noted a company statement.
