CMA CGM and reefer specialists Seatrade have agreed a new vessel sharing agreement (VSA) which will provide a global service across four continents.
The new service brings together CMA CGM’s PAD service, Seatrade’s Meridian service and French carrier Marfret.
It will begin in Northern Europe and then travel to the US East Coast, the Caribbean, the Pacific Islands, Australasia and Peru before coming back on itself.
The service will be the first direct reefer service connecting New Zealand and the US, and will also call at the capitals of the small French overseas territories of French Polynesia and New Caledonia, Papeete and Noumea.
The line will use 13 ships – six CMA CGM, six Seatrade and one Marfet. The vessels have a nominal capacity between 2,200 and 2,500 teu. Each will have a minimum of 600 reefer units on board.
The service will launch in October 2017 subject to validation by the relevant authorities.
