The Port of Oakland, on the US West Coast, has appointed a real estate law expert who had been the port’s second vice president as its new president.
Joan Story, who had been on the board for two years, was unanimously selected by Oakland’s seven-member governing body.
The term lasts for one year and last year’s president, Michael Colbruno, will remain on the board as commissioner.
The governing body also selected Cestra Butner and Andreas Cluver as first vice president and second vice president respectively.
Story, who was nominated for the board in July 2015 by Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf, counsels international law firm Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton.
She graduated from Occidental College and received a master’s in political science from UCLA before obtaining a law degree from UC Davis. She was previously a member of The Trust for Public Land California Advisory Board and a board member of the Child Care Law Center.
