K Line’s container shipping business secured a profit of ¥6.1bn (US$55.1m) in the second quarter of this year, as the industry’s rebound saw it claim greater volumes on its services.
The Japanese carrier handled 7% more volumes as freight rates recovered, reflecting steady cargo movements, and these improvements helped its revenue rise by 20.4% to ¥147.2bn ($US1.3bn).
In particular, it saw 17% more volumes on intra-Asia services, 9% more on the Asia-Europe trade lane and volumes rose by 6% between Asia and North America.
