Milaha has launched the first direct feeder service between Qatar and Kuwait, as it seeks new partners following the blockade imposed by several Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
The state-owned Qatari shipping company currently has services calling at Sohar and Salalah in Oman and Nhava Sheva, Mundra and Kandla in India.
The Kuwait Qatar Express Service (KQX), which has a transit time of one day, will use a 515 teu vessel operating between Hamad Port and Shuwaikh Port once a week.
It has 50 reefer plugs available enabling it to transport perishable products and food stuffs in and out of Qatar.
Abdulrahman Essa Al-Mannai, president and CEO of Milaha, said that the new service would be a “fast and cost-efficient solution, particularly for local and regional exporters aiming to enter the Qatari market”.
